If the competitor arrives by plane, he/she goes to the customs office at Ferihegy Airport, goes tot he red corridor, presents the invitation letter issued by the competition organizing association, his/her weapons permit and pays a fee of HUF 3.000.
This can only be done by the competitor, this permit is not issued in advance.

2. Documents needed to bring firearms to Hungary:

• For competitors who have European Firearms Pass:
  – Invitation to the event
  – European Firearms Pass
• For other competitors or for someone who doesn’t have all of his/her weapons listed in his/her European Firearms Pass:
  – Invitation to the event
  – Firearms pass of their own country and a temporary firearms pass, which could be requestes at the customs office of the point of entry for a 3.000 HUF stamp duty paid in only cash.

3. Safekeeping: When not in use, unloaded firearm should be securely stored in a dedicated gun safe. When not in use and if no safe is available, unloaded firearm should be with the permit holder (gun owner) at all times.

The best way to store the firearm is to keep it with you as much as is reasonable. When leaving a firearm in a hotel room when you are gone for breakfast, dinner, or on a trip, it is best to lock it in the firearm case if possible and to place it out of sight in a closet or under the bed.

If possible, lock parts of the firearm (bolt, bolt carrier) to the safe or carry the parts with you so that it won´t be easy to get access to a complete firearm.

Ammunition cannot be stored in the same case as the firearm. Ammunition may be kept in the same safe.

4. Transporting: Firearms may be carried in a holster and all permits must be on the owner’s person. It is still true that the best way is to keep the firearms under supervision at all times!!!
